How do YOU eat an elephant?

How do YOU eat an elephant? Linda Ledwidge, Free Flo Living, Mallorca, Majorca

Have you ever heard the saying -"How do you eat an elephant? And the answer is, one bite at a time."
It is commonly used to give advice  when tackling big goals and huge problems in life.

When you think about it, it is quite a wise saying. After all, you could never eat a whole elephant in one bite, not even a baby one, could you?
When we use analogies in our everyday life, it can help us to look at things from a different perspective, and often that is all it takes to help us to heal, achieve a goal, or find some peace.
Just  look at things in a different way. See the other point of view.

Think in pictures, Linda Ledwidge, Free Flo Living, Mallorca, Majorca
The most important thing  to remember is to make sure that you enjoy every bite!
Don´t get bogged down in the specifics, or you will forget to enjoy the moment.
What gets overlooked is that while we get satisfaction out of the end goal - in this case, eating the elephant, the enjoyment, pleasure, and excitement is in the journey - or in this case, eating the elephant.

Have you ever planned a holiday? Do you remember the excitement every time you thought about it? What you would do? What you would see? Then the holiday was amazing, and you got to experience it all before, during, and after.
The holiday itself was the goal, but the pleasure you got from the planning, the expectation, and then ultimately, from the memory too, well..... what can I say?

If you have never experienced this phenomenon, I urge you to try it.

Take time out to imagine and dream before you try to eat the elephant in one bite.

Think in pictures. Make them as big , as bold, and as colourful as you can, and then watch what happens!

How do you BE?

3/9/2021

It is said that we are human BEings not human DOings
 - what if DOing is your BEing?
How do you BE?, Linda Ledwidge, Free Flo Living, Feeling On Purpose
How do you BE?
Do you find yourself feeling uncomfortable when you are not doing anything? Are you one of those people who feel great when you have completed tasks or goals but feel uneasy just BEing?
Do you know how you BE?
What if you BE by DOing?
What if BEing for you meant DOing, and that was ok?

For most of my life, I have been a "busy" person. You know what I mean, always on the move, things to do, people to see. In the past I would  have lists of things to do every day. I set goals and achieved a lot. I was happy being busy.
When I was not doing anything, I didn't feel good, I felt guilty and lazy- where did that come from? I did not take any time for self-care (I didn't even know what that meant).  I was at the bottom of my list of priorities.
I didn't know it then, but that had nothing to do with the fact that I was busy and everything to do with the way I felt, especially how I felt about ME.
Have you ever had time for yourself and not known what to do with it? Or felt uneasy and guilty when you were not doing something?
That was me, and I was ok with it, or so I thought.

I grew up in an environment where there was a massive expansion in the digital world. Everything was rapidly changing, and people from all corners of the globe were beginning to communicate in real -time.
It was an exciting time, with so much information and so many new ways of being and doing.
However, as we became more and more connected to the rest of the world, we became more and more disconnected from our SELF.
There is always something to do.
A new book to read, a video to watch, a podcast to listen to, as well as living our life. We get bombarded from all directions with good advice and people telling us what it takes to be successful, how to be happy, how to BE.

I don´t know about you, but there have been many times when I felt like a failure, even when I was happy with my life because everywhere I turned, I had someone telling me how I could be better and what, in their opinion, I was doing wrong.

Most of these were positive messages from people who were passionate about the things they had done. Things they discovered that led them to success or improved their health and well-being.

New processes to try, new healing modalities that were guaranteed to work.
I was passionate about all this information and also about telling people what worked for me too. I wanted everyone to benefit the way I did.

I have to be honest and tell you, often I was angry and resentful at other people when I was so busy, and they were not listening to me.
There were times when I blamed everyone else. My family, my work colleagues, and my friends. Then there was the government and people in general. I blamed them all because I never had time for myself, and then I got upset when they did not notice or seem to appreciate me, especially when I tried so hard to make everything better for everyone around me - sound familiar?
It was not until recent years that I became aware that I was angry with myself, no one else.

It took some major life events to shift my perception. I am not going to go into them all; however, what I will say is that I was a stubborn Scot and needed to be stopped in my tracks more than once before I sat up and took notice.

During and after every challenging situation, I kept telling myself that I was learning a lesson and my life was improving. I didn't really believe it at the time, but it was true. I see that now.
Then, in the space of about 10 years, one life-changing event after another occurred, and  my whole world was different. It was as if overnight, the foundations I had built my life on cracked and crumbled.

For a while, I felt numb. Then, without knowing that it was happening, I  connected to how I felt, right here, right now, and WOW - the magic happened.
It was not something that happened suddenly, although there was a "lightbulb moment" when it all came together.
I didn't want the lightbulb moment to happen, though, and I resisted it for what seems like forever. It was so much easier to blame everyone and everything around me for the mess that was my life than it was to take responsibility for it myself.
Why on earth was I going to make myself feel worse by blaming myself?
That's what I thought - and then - I let go.
It seems too simplistic to say it, but that is exactly what happened; I let go.
I didn't care at that point what happened; I was happy(?) to just let everything go on around me.
Slowly I began to see that I was still functioning; then that I was still laughing; then that I was feeling happy again; who would have thought!
I was learning how I BE, and I liked it.
What has become clear to me is that  “one-size” does not fit all, no matter how hard we may try to make it so  (just ask Cinderella's´ sisters) ...BUT
“One shoe can change your life.”
― Cinderella
The thing is that I am still busy, I am just busy in a different way.
Now I know that when I feel good being busy and passionate about what I'm doing, I am BEing.
It's how I feel when I am DOing, or how I feel when I am not DOing, that stops me from BEing.
There are times when I feel good meditating, and other times when I don't feel good meditating - now, I stop, and I go back to when it feels right.
There are times when I have a heavy schedule, and it feels good, and other times when I get overwhelmed - now I recognise the feeling, and I make a decision about what I need to do to change it.
My perspective on my busy life is now very different from before.
The most important lesson I  learned is
- the only thing that ever matters is -

How You Feel!
You see, everyone will have advice on what you can do to improve your life (me included), your relationships, your health, and your wealth. There are so many courses, books, coaching programs, and experts for us to learn from but what almost every single one of them does not tell us is - if we do not connect to how we feel and follow our passion, we will be continually re-routing on our journey.
It's how we learn what we want and what we don't want, and that's what we are here for, to find what makes us feel good and run with it.
So read every book you can get your hands on, watch every video that pops up, and listen to every podcast you can find. Live your life to the full, just make sure that you pay attention to how you feel when you are doing all of it, and that way you will know if it is right for you, in this moment. If it doesn't feel good, and you want to - stop, you can always go back to it later, if it feels right, of course!

I have absolutely no regrets about any part of my life, even the darkest moments, and that is what the journey has taught me. I have learned that all these years I was on my way, I still am, and the joy is in the journey.
All we have is NOW.
The past
WAS now then.
 The future
WILL BE now when it arrives.
NOW is all we have.
When I work with people, I hold space for them to BE.
No judgments and no expectations.
Some people get back on their path, and others find they still have some re-routing to do.
That's ok. Whatever works for you is ok.
You Got This.
If you are ready to take 100% responsibility for how you feel and want someone to have your back, I'm here.
Are you NO where?
or are you
NOW here?
You Got This.
Let me know how it goes.

You have a Power Source. How often do you plug in?

You have a power source, Linda Ledwidge, FreeFloLiving, Feeling On Purpose, Mallorca, Majorca
B R E A T H E
Have you ever heard something and thought to yourself - yeah, really, it´s that simple, no way!
And then you might give it a go, half-heartedly, because, well...it really cannot be that simple, can it?
So you dabble a little, get no obvious results, and give up. You see, I told you, it
is not that simple, you say.

Every day, millions of people do this with lots of different things they dabble. They hear something that sounds too easy and too good to be true.  BUT, well, what if it works, so they "give it a go" -  BUT they don't give it a chance.

I did this for many years with breathing. I mean, we breathe every minute of every day, don't we? So what´s the big deal?
Thankfully, eventually, I decided to make a conscious, focused effort to plug in. I kept coming across research and articles and courses about Breathwork until I really couldn't ignore it any longer.
..........................and wow!
Breathe , I say.
Of course I'm breathing you say, I would be dead if I wasn't, Dummy!
If there is one thing that changes everything in your life, it is your breath.
Breathing not only supplies our organs with oxygen. It also rids the body of waste products and toxins……and it is all about flow!
When we are flowing, we feel good….it´s that simple!
Did you know:
  • it is possible to survive for around 3 weeks without food or 3 days without water?
  • it is not possible to survive more than 5 - 6 minutes without breathing?
  • conscious, focused breathing is fundamental for a healthy body and immune system?
  • that your mind and body communicate through your breath?
  • your breath is the signal to release chemical and hormonal messengers that initiate and regulate systems of your body?
  • breathing consciously grounds you, brings you back to the present moment?
  • focused breathing reduces stress levels?
  • breathing techniques have been shown to improve many health issues?
  • breathing consciously can reduce pain?
  • that your breath is your life force and your power source?
Did you know that the ‘simple’ act of breathing properly
  immediately boosts the immune system!
Breath gives us life and optimal health.
The first thing we do when we enter this world is inhale and the last thing we do before we gain our Angel Wings is exhale.
When you practice breathing consciously you oxygenate the cells and tissues of your body, you create and maintain flow, and you connect to your life force; you plug into your power source.

If we do not plug in our appliances, they will not work.
If we do not start the ignition of our car, it will not go anywhere.
If we do not connect to our power source we will fade and eventually run out of energy.

Go on! Give it a go!
It really IS that simple!
You will find some information and exercises to get you started here....Breathing
The only person stopping you is you.

The Black Dot within the Field of Infinite Possibilities

13/8/2021

The Black Dot, Linda Ledwidge, Free Flo Living, Feeling On Purpose, Mallorca, Majorca
The Black Dot
Can you see the black dot?
Can you NOT see the black dot?
It's not what you can see, it's how you choose to look at it that changes worlds.
Don't try not to see the black dot - instead, notice the expanse of white around the black dot - this is the field of infinite possibilities - and choose to experience it all.
This story written by Unknown has been around for a while.
In the current climate, it's worth re-telling and reflecting on where our focus lies.
If you believe that what you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it - then you must also believe that when you focus on the black dots in your life, they will expand too.
“What you focus on expands, and when you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it.”
— Oprah Winfrey
The Black Dot
One day, a professor entered her classroom and asked her students to prepare for a surprise test.

They all waited anxiously at their desks for the exam to begin.
The professor handed out the exams with the text facing down, as usual.
Once she handed them all out, she asked the students to turn over the papers.
To everyone’s surprise, there were no questions–just a black dot in the center of the paper.
The professor, seeing the expression on everyone’s faces, told them the following:
“I want you to write about what you see there.”
The students, confused, got started on the inexplicable task.
The Black Dot, quill, Linda Ledwidge, Free Flo Living, Feeling On Purpose, Mallorca, Majorca
At the end of the class, the professor took all the exams and started reading each one of them out loud in front of all the students.
All the students, without exception, had written about the black dot on the paper.
They described its position. They wrote of its blackness, its size, its dark and foreboding meaning.
They speculated on how it might symbolize death, fear or destruction.

After she had read all the papers, the professor offered this explanation:
I’m not going to grade you on this, she said. I just wanted to give you something to think about.
You all wrote about the black dot.
No one wrote about the white part of the paper. (the field of infinite possibilities)

The same thing frequently happens in life, she continued.
Imagine our lives are like these pieces of paper with black dots.

Let´s assume that the black dot signifies the issues/negative aspects in our lives.
Look at the expanse of white paper around it. (
the field of infinite possibilities)
We have lots to enjoy and be thankful for but, we insist on focusing on the dark spots: the health issues that bother us, a lack of money, the complicated relationship with the family member, a disappointment with a friend — so many challenges, so much heartache and loss.

We have much to celebrate – the sunrise every day, nature renewing itself every day, friends and family around us, the job that provides our livelihood, the miracles that we can see everywhere if we are open to them.
Sometimes we let the little black dots multiply and join together until they threaten to completely obscure the potential of everything else.
The Black Dot, spiralling,Linda Ledwidge, Free Flo Living, Feeling On Purpose, Mallorca, Majorca
It doesn’t have to be that way.
The dark spots are small compared to the vast white canvas of our lives; we needn’t allow them to take over our hearts and minds.
We can imagine our lives differently.

Don’t let black dots fill the pages of your life.
Yes, mourn sadness and loss when appropriate – life is filled with contrast.
And then,  see and celebrate JOY and LOVE – life is a gift, the present is here -  in the present.
Savour your blessings, live each moment, be happy, be hopeful.

Paint your own colourful pictures.
Don’t let your life be all about the black dots.
“Since we cannot change reality, let us change the eyes which see reality.”
- Nikos Kazantzakis

Your challenge, should you wish to accept it, is to allow yourself to acknowledge the black dots in your life and then to see the the white space around them. That space is full of good things - the field of infinite possibilities.
Shift your focus from the black dot to encompass the white space, the whole of your life.
Celebrate everything in your life, even the black dots, because without them, you could not begin to appreciate the white space - the good things.
So:
Step 1 - Decide that you are going to recognise and experience everything in your life; The black dots and the white space.
Step 2 - Acknowledge both, and acknowledge that there is something positive to be found in both. Allow yourself to                            experience the field of infinite possibilities.
Step 3  - IMAGINE, DREAM, FEEL how good it feels to change your perspective, to choose how you will live your life.
Step 4 - Choose to make how you feel your No. 1 priority. ( Even if it means you spend more time dreaming!)
The only person stopping you is you.
You Got This.

Understanding WHY helps Redress Stress

Understanding WHY, helps Redress Stress

A society stuck in the stress response is a society divided in fear.

~ Linda Ledwidge ~

When you understand why you are reacting and responding in the way you do, you can then turn to the solution.
You can move forward differently.
When you do not know WHY you cannot find HOW.
We have an inborn response to anything that we perceive as a threat. It is nature´s way of protecting us.
It is nature´s blessing - your stress response - you are Blessed with Stress.
When you change the way you think about your stressors, you update your belief system.
Changing your perception and updating your beliefs changes the way your body responds, which helps to burn off the hormones flooding through your body. Now you are sending out new signals that you are safe.
You are now out of the problem and in the solution.
You can now find HOW.
Pivot Point:
The mind views internal conflict as a threat…
and this initiates our innate stress response to keep us safe.
What is THE most important thing?
How you feel!
Let me give you an example:
My mobile phone kept defaulting to a 30-second screen timeout. No matter how many times I changed the setting, it defaulted back again.
It was driving me nuts. It was frustrating and annoying. (This is what I was thinking. This was my story about it. I was using these words.)
Now I am usually quick to find out the cause of things like that; however, because I was in this state of semi-stress, I could not think clearly. My brain had shut down the part that processes logical thinking. I just kept doing the same thing and getting the same results. (I was telling the same story)
How many times has the same thing happened to you?
You know, logically, that the results will not change, although you cannot help yourself.

Do you keep doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results?

Then I had an “aha” moment.
One day I was doing something on my phone when it timed out.
Instead of what had become my usual (default) response, I asked Mrs Google, she who knows all. It turned out the answer to my question was in the power saving options.
How simple.
My phone was behaving as I programmed it, as I had told it to do. When I was not actively using it, it went into relaxation mode and rested until it was time to start up again. All the functionality still carried on, the phone was still running and saving battery for when it needed a boost.
I was so amazed at the way this dovetailed with the way I work, that it made me think about the everyday things we do and how they mirror the internal working of our body.
When I told the phone to change this setting, it responded, well, who would have thought it was so easy.
Redress Stress, Free Flo Living, Linda Ledwidge, Mallorca, Majorca
Your body works in the same way, you tell it what you want (program it with your thoughts), and the mind gives it to you. (causes the chemical and physical reaction in your body)
Your mind has two functions:
1. Survival.
2. Regeneration. (Healing, growth, and development)
It is innate intelligence. When your mind believes you are in danger, your body needs to focus all its resources on survival, keeping you safe. It directs all blood flow and energy to maintain life and get you to safety. Your body naturally shuts down systems that are not essential for survival right now, so it can direct the energy to where it needs it the most to deal with the threat.
The thing is, as you live your life and experience different people, places, and things, your preferences change. However, if you have a belief that those preferences are not the best for you, or you are not good enough for them, this creates a conflict within you.
This conflict causes emotional tension, which triggers the stress response and physical tension in your body, which leads to pain and dis-ease, if not released.
Stressor: something that causes stress or tension
What happens when the mind perceives a threat–yes, you got it–the Stress Response kicks in.
So, now you know WHY, you can move forward with HOW.
The only person stopping you is you.
You Got This.
